The Delta State Joint Technical Task Team ( JTTT) On Emergency Response To Covid-19 And Challenges Of Movement Of Food And Agricultural Inputs In Nigeria has been inaugurated by the Police Commissioner, Cp Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa mni.
Inaugurating members of the task force which included representatives of the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, at the Police Headquarters in Asaba, CP Inuwa disclosed that the task force was primarily put in place to ensure minimal impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the 2020 farming season and facilitate free movement of agricultural produce across the country.
He said that members of the task force should ensure that commuters were not transported alongside the agricultural produce, adding that members of the task force should ensure that adequate information clarifying the controlled movement of agricultural produce was disseminated to transporters and security personnel.
Speaking after the inauguration, Comrade Mike Ikeogwu, Chairman of the NUJ, Delta State Council, who is a member of the task force, said that it was good that the union was recognised in the composition of the task force, adding that journalists in the state should gear up towards giving robust publicity to the activities of the task force.
Comrade Ikeogwu said that adequate information dissemination on the objectives of the task force would engender the cooperation of critical stakeholders towards the actualisation of set goals.
